Welcome to Don't Fry For Me Argentina, my corner of the digital world where food isn't just sustenance - it's a gateway to history, identity, and the tangled tales of culture that cook beneath the surface. As a chef, sommelier, and writer based in Buenos Aires, I delve into the culinary traditions that have shaped Argentina and beyond, tracing the lineage of a recipe, the evolution of a dish, or the philosophy tucked inside a bottle of wine.

Here, I explore the historical footnotes behind everyday flavors - from colonial cooking techniques and indigenous ingredients to immigrant contributions and the politics of modern gastronomy. I blend my own cooking sensibilities with global curiosity, drawing on my experiences at Casa SaltShaker to illuminate how food becomes a story worth telling. Sometimes the path leads to philosophical ramblings, sometimes to blistering hot sauce reviews, and often to reflections on the quirks of urban life.

If you're drawn to essays where anthropology meets the kitchen, where the roots of a recipe are just as important as its taste, and where a good rant is always served with a pinch of humor—you’ll feel right at home.

Easy to Access Twenty-Year History

I have been writing about food, wine, and things to do in Argentina and South America in general, since 2005. Until this year, all of that was on my own blog, SaltShaker, which remains as an archive and includes tons of reviews, recipes, walking tours, and lists and maps of favorite places.
